THE TRANSITION
I have a VICTORY to share. Four months ago (September 21, 2021, to be exact), my health was out of whack. I was six months into grieving the loss of my mother. I knew I had to snap out of la-la land, depression land, no motivation land, or whichever land you want to call it. I did not have the know-how. I have hiked and sustained through many terrains: dessert, fire, wind, and rain. But, for the first time, I felt powerless and lost in the wilderness.
In 24 months, I gained 70 pounds. Clinically, I had severe anemia, numerous vitamin deficiencies, and a heart arrhythmia that was very concerning and produced irregular EKGs. I experienced inflammation in my body, causing pain everywhere. I was on a hamster wheel of denial that my mental health was fragile because everyone had always seen me as a strong tower. To be in a vulnerable and weak state was foreign territory to me. I visited one doctor after another: from primary care to cardiologist, gastroenterologist, dermatologist, endocrinologist, neurologist, physical therapist, psychologist, hematologist, nutritionist, and cancer geneticist.
On September 21, 2021, I went on a 10-day vacation to spend time with my beloved cousin Kelly in Chicago, who is actively reversing her disease with a WFPB (whole-food plant-based) lifestyle. She was diagnosed in May 2021 with the dreadful C-word -Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Kelly decided to embark on a holistic journey to heal her disease. On July 1, 2021, she began her journey with a WFPB lifestyle. During my stay at her lovely home, she introduced me to the WFPB lifestyle. At first, 48 years of incorrect programming in my brain 🧠 said, "this is not sustainable." Nonetheless, because I was desperate to regain my health, I took on the challenge and began my WFPB journey.
I have not taken any medications- only nutraceutical therapy. I am on the natural route to healing my medical ailments one by one with healing food and vitamin therapy. I use my faith, meditation, and yoga to balance me. I discarded every toxic person, place, thing, and/or habit. I reached that point in life where enough was enough, and I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.
In four short months, I have many reasons to celebrate. Although, I have a lifetime of recovery and healing to go. Are you ready? I got my lab results back. Stand up! Dance! Jump! Scream! Do cartwheels! PARTAY 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I have lost 20lbs without starving or extreme dietary restrictions. Simply by being in-tune with and listening to my body. MY LAB WORK IS FABULOUS! My hematologist ROCKS! He identified the root of my anemia on the first visit; IDA (Iron Deficiency Anemia) due to malabsorption. He quickly formulated a plan to administer two iron infusions and follow up in three months. Something miraculous occurred. My blood is back to normal. I have zero vitamin deficiencies, a strong heart, a healthy GI and microbiome, a super fabulous pH of 8 from a super acidic pH of 5.5! You read that right -yes, 8! That means my body is super alkaline. #EATTOHEAL
I have two pending issues that I am working on healing. The first is to improve my lumbar spine strength due to mild vertebrae slippage and disc narrowing from excessive weight load. Second, to regain 100% hearing in my left ear. I am experiencing SNHL (sensory neuro hearing loss). A diagnosis of Ménière's disease is to be determined. Scientifically, the cause of Meniere's disease is unknown. However, after reading many peer-reviewed medical journals, my logical anecdotal conclusion, as a result of severe anemia, this condition can occur due to the decrease of blood supply to the cochlea nerve, thus reducing intracochlear oxygen levels known as hypoxia. In simple terms, when tissues have starved of oxygen. Now that my hemoglobin is back to normal, my tissues are no longer starving.
My praise and thanks go out to many friends and family that have been supportive in the background. However, a select few have been fundamental and in my corner through this journey: #1 is God, proceeded by my cousin Kelly, a special friend, Omar, highly gifted in energy healing, my primary care Dr. Felix Florimon, and my hematologist Dr. David Diuguid. All the other specialists mentioned above were also essential and gave me clearance to a clean bill of health.
Watch out world, "This cheetah is coming back strong and coming through🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨!" It's party time in the concrete jungle (NYC).💪🏃🤸💃💃💃💃
Stay tuned!
